This innovative course will introduce general practitioners to a variety of commonly performed orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures. From the very first cut to the last stitch, participants will gain valuable experience practicing techniques on cadavers under the guidance of ACVS certified instructors. We will focus on common orthopedic procedures of the hip and stifle and review pertinent anatomy and surgical approaches. Soft tissue procedures will include amputation of limbs, digits, and tails, basic skin reconstruction procedures, suturing techniques, and emergency procedures such as temporary tracheostomy and chest tube placement.

Hands-on training led by expert instructors equals enhanced proficiency and improved surgery skills. Build your confidence in performing procedures with accuracy and efficiency:

Courtyard Lodging Includes: 

  • Airport Pick up: Available on request, 7 days a week starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p
  • Guests will need to call the hotel upon arrival (702.434.4700) after they pick up their luggage. At that time, we will inform them of the area they will be picked up and we will send the shuttle driver.
  • Airport drop-off: All drop-offs are every two hours, starting at 6:00a and ending at 10:00p. Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior to departing.
  • Shuttle service to Las Vegas Strip: Pickups and drop-offs are outside the Mandalay Bay Tour and Trolley stop.

Pick-up Times:
12:30p, 4:30p, 10:30p

  • Please sign up at the front desk at least 1 hour prior.
  • Ground transportation to/from hotel and Viticus Center.
  • Be ready at the Courtyard hotel lobby 30 minutes in advance of course start time and board the van for the short ride to the Viticus Center. View Map.
  • Return to the hotel at the end of the instructional day.

TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation in Las Vegas is limited. If you are staying somewhere other than our preferred partner, Hampton Inn & Suites Las Vegas Airport, you will need to arrange for your transportation to and from the Oquendo Center. If you are renting a car, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and several other hotels on the strip may charge for parking. Other transportation options for getting around are taxi service, Uber and Lyft.

PACKING TIPS

  1. WVC scrubs are available upon your arrival if needed.

  2. Closed-toe shoes are required during labs.

  3. A light sweater for indoor areas.

  4. Plenty of sunscreen.

  5. Electronic charging device to power up.

  6. Valid ID - We highly recommend you carry your ID at all times in Las Vegas.
